My life philosophy is: Realization is the Creation of Imagination. I believe that many people pursue short-term goals while life goals (long-term) should be leading. I call for a more slow-down culture. Sometimes we go too fast and we forget ourselves. It can help to take some distance. Create some space. Declutter and find more clarity and overview of where you are and where you want to go.
This allows other things to come on our path, so we can experience more and be able to make better choices. If you have a positive mindset and a strong believe in yourself you can achieve what ever you aspire. In this dynamic and fast-paced world one has to continuously learn and transform. Everything is visualized in the mind first. If you can imagine it you can create it and realize it. All questions come with answers. It is up to us to go out and explore, discover and uncover it.
So allow me to share my journey with you. I will give you a peak inside my work, thoughts, activities, goals and experiences. For I will allow you to interact upon these. Born in Suriname and raised in The Netherlands, I experience both countries’ traditions, cultures, values, and norms. To make things even more complex my family roots go way back to India. Thanks to my family and friends I have been enjoying some of the specific and characteristic elements of India. I am grateful to my parents for having the courage in taking the leap to rebuild a life from scratch with basically only a dream and a strong will to succeed which has always been fueled with happiness and joy. Room for failure? None!
With this multicultural background and a colorful mindset, I quickly discovered that anything is possible. And in some way, I owe it to my parents and grandparents to make this life count. Fired up with ambition and aspirations I set out to make the most of creating and experiencing an intensive life. Just like a tree that will grow as tall as it can grow, in life we can become whoever we want. With a positive mindset, discipline, and believe in yourself, you don’t need anyone’s permission to grow.
I have learned that happiness is our natural state of being (freedom from unhappiness). A humble, grateful and open mind will lead you to meet beautiful people and unforgettable destinations. The Universe has you back!
Life is meant to be lived forward. And my curiosity level is way too high to settle for some kind of narrow expertise or specialty. I find it joyful and useful to see the bigger picture and the references and connections between different aspects of problems and challenges. I would not want to call myself a visionary. I try to look at things from multiple perspectives and from multiple domains. It is basically a systems approach. I guess that is how my brain operates. As a generalist I do enjoy doing deep work, diving into a certain topic to learn all I can about it and apply that knowledge in real-world applications.
This probably explains my study career and my professional career journey. A solid mechanical engineering background combined with information technology, business administration, and entrepreneurship. Working in higher education has given me a playground where I can apply my knowledge, skills, and experience to innovate in teaching and learning. Learning is truly the gateway to the infinite realm of opportunities.
Humans are made to travel. The world is our playground. Travel as much as you can because traveling really forms you. Money will return but the experience will not.
Although I really like homemade food I think it is important to eat out once in a while. For the food, for the company, for the human spirit because the combination really works well together.
You can skip lunch, dinner, date, work, school, Netflix, and all the rest that is distracting you but never skip your exercise! Hang in there, small steps compound over time. Keep moving!
There is an abundance of knowledge. I just love reading no matter where I am. My aim is 40-50 books per year. Because of my broad interest, the topics are diverse.
An entrepreneurial proactive attitude, flexibility, great perseverance, and the power to be self-learning make it possible to take on complex challenges. Because I am increasingly aware that multidisciplinary collaboration is the key in order to arriving at innovative solutions, I pay attention to the direct and indirect people around me. And I see it as my duty to get the best out of them by empowering them.
The challenges, assignments, and projects at and for different organizations have provided me with a large regional but also international network of people who inspire, motivate, and whom I can engage and consult for reflection, experience, and/or expertise.
My aspirations are to continue to develop myself so that I can contribute to the development of people, organizations, and the bigger challenges of this world, now and in the future. I do this by keeping a sharp but critical eye on the latest developments.
We live in a beautiful time where a lot is changing. This offers chances and opportunities for everyone to gain a place in our society and being happy with yourself while balancing work and private life is becoming increasingly important. It’s people who make the difference!
